Memorial Day Weekend

I've meant to start blogging since I started this page back in November but never got around to it. But Mike and I just had an awesome 3 day weekend so I figured now would be a good time to start.

We started out by heading to Moab after I got off work. We stopped to drop off the dogs at my moms house and headed down south. We didn't get to Moab until around 11 at night and we started to search for a campsite. Every campsite we went to was packed to capacity and more. Finally at 2 in the morning we found a trail-head parking lot, parked, and slept in the car. It was actually quite confortable.

The next day we drove 20 miles out of Moab and found a nice spot in the middle of nowhere to camp. We were the only people for miles. There was no running water or bathrooms, but being out there alone and away from people was worth it.

A few miles away from us up a random dirt road we found a little trail leading to some dinosaur tracks. Look closely and you can see them.

Next we headed off for some mountain biking. This was a fun ride that we found. It was only about 5 miles but it was a lot of fun with a lot of sandstone riding.

Thats me at the top getting ready to ride down.

After our ride we headed back to the campsite for some dinner.

The next day we headed of to the infamous slickrock trail. I admit....I was a bit scared in anticipation for this legend bike trail. It didn't help that at the trail-head there was a long warning about how dangerous and technical the trail is and how many people get seriously injured every year.

Mike had a wreck and skinned his elbow but no other problems. Just a lot of hard riding, sweat, and beautiful views.

And finally like 5 hours later......the exit

On our last day we just explored the town of Moab. We went to a museum that had fossils and stones and collectibles from movies that were filmed in the area.....like Indiana Jones

All together it was an awesome trip. The slickrock was tough but awesome and we plan on doing it again in the future.
